NOTES
(1) Literal translation: "This trip is too slow / this drive is too slow"
(2) Literal translation: "Suddenly, something dropped" but "pumatak" is used to refer to liquid that has dropped or poured or fell
(3) Manong is a term used to refer to an older man. It is generally taken as a respectful way to call an older man whose name you do not know. Here, it is most likely referring to a sidewalk vendor or someone selling stuff who has provisions for shelter against the rain (probably a big umbrella for their wares). Filipinos are rather friendly and they won't mind helping someone out especially when it rains (God knows how much Filipinos hate getting rained on lol)
(4) Same as: We will talk about many things, but I used a different phrasing because mag-uusap is better suited to "will talk/converse" while magku-kwentuhan, with root word kwento (story) is better suited to be translated and understood as "will tell stories"
(5) Basically, "whatever it is". The word "trip" in Filipino context generally refers to anything you're into or interested in. For example, you'd hear people say "Nice clothes! Trip ko 'yan" (I l like them! / I'm into that!) It almost interchangeable with the word "like".
Lastly, "Tampisaw" is a word for Play in the rain (or anything that's water - puddles, sea, river, pools, etc)
According to Stanford Medical, It is indeed the one and ONLY reason women in this country live 10 years longer and weigh 42 pounds less than us.
